ClimateAid in cooperation with Green Cross

ClimateAid is a Swedish initiative with global ambitions. ClimateAid at present exists only with Sweden. ClimateAid’s international communications will be relayed through the international offices of our associate partners. However, we have established cooperative efforts with a strong international partner: Green Cross International, also known as the Green Cross.

Green Cross is a growing environmental NGO which has the ambitions to be for the environment what the Red Cross if for people. The organisation was founded by Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993, and exists today in 28 countries around the world, with additional organisations starting in other countries as well. In Sweden the Green Cross was founded by the late eco-journalist Jan Danielson. The organisation is non-political and non-religious.

Mikhail Gorbachev supports ClimateAid
Green Cross Sweden’s President Tonia Moya at an early gave her support and cooperation for ClimateAid. Thus she brought representatives from ClimateAid together with Green Cross International’s Chairman Mikhail Gorbachev, and Alexander Likhotal, President of the organisation. Both Gorbachev and Likhotal expressed their support for ClimateAid, whereby in a letter of reference. Also working with Green Cross Sweden for many years is Oren Lyons (Professor at Buffalo State University, Onondaga Chief within Six Nations, and UN advisor on Indigenous affairs) who has given his moral support to ClimateAid.

ClimateAid and Green Cross share the aim for turning up the volume to communicate the vital issue of climate change and on what we can do to decrease global CO2 emissions. Thus cooperation between the organisations comes natural. Green Cross will support ClimateAid with their expertise and network. In addition the organisations will together lead in project implementation.

ClimateAid has met with Mikhail Gorbachev and Alexander Likhotal on a continual basis to keep them up-dated on the developments of the project.
